the turbos I have on now (auto) are in better shape, don't smoke, and show no oil in the intake tract. I'm not going to swap some questionable turbos on when I know these are in good shape. That's why I asked about just swapping the housings (compressor side is all I think I'd need to swap anyway, been a while since I did the research though). When I looked at the cam specs in the FSM some time ago it appeared that the auto cams opened at the same time, and had the same lift, as the 5-spd cams, but the auto cams had less duration. Basically, it seemed the auto cams just chopped off the top end breathing without giving you back anything on the low end.
