Message :i was talking about the border versus the 300 degree that fits the same injectors and the early model plenum. have you had these both in hand at the same time to compare?
the border has been around longer, so it was obviously used as the test bed.

The border fuel rail, and the 300degree fuel rail have
never been together for any comparison. We clean sheeted
the 300d design. The only variable that did not change was
the location of the injectors, and that's set by the lower
intake manifold. The rest was a complicated excersize in
package design while maintaining considerations for the
highest efficiencies in fuel delivery. There may be some
visibly similar features between the two rails, but I can
reassure you that there is very little similarity between
the 300d fuel rails and the border fuel rails.

if it wasn't, then why did they refer to border in their advertising?

The border is refered to because it is the competition.
300d decided to identify what options end users have out
there, and what makes 300d rails better then the competition.

:basically, what they did for the newer ones was change the provisions for different injectors and for the later model plenum, no?

Please take the time to educate your self more;
Read the 300d hardparts website, where everything is
spelled out clearly. Also consider reading my tech
articles in the Technical portion of twinturbo.net on the
development of the 300d fuel rails. All options were
analyzed via computational fluid dynamic means and the
results shared with TTnet. 300d also used an independent
engineer to hand calculate flow characteristics, early in
the design phase, to ensure our datas were correct.

from what i understand, these are pretty simple changes and not that big of a deal.

You understand very wrong.
Each and every bit was engineered with a fine tooth comb.
Even the slightest changes in the part, to reduce CNC time
(and reduce costs) were taken into consideration.

not too hard to replicate the rails obviously, as coz has showed us.

:at the end of the day, nissan made the only original version of the rails, and the rest are copies with improvements.

no one has copied the stock fuel rails. there is very
little there of value to the performance oriented consumer.
