Message I've crafted 2 brake kits, one for my 300zx and one for my Audi A8. Despite having both cars, rotors, calipers, & wheels in my possession to engineer and measure there were still adjustments necessary during final assembly, it just happens.

The mistake Z1 made was offering you their friendly opinion and you accepted it because you trusted them. There's a saying, "trust but verify". No one person or company is all knowing. They offered you their advise in good faith. There's no malice here but Z1 should have said... "5mm should work but you have to do the leg work and measure it yourself to make sure"

You have SSR Integral's right...Nice wheels...I have them too and I can tell you first hand the curve of the spoke is deceptive. It appears there is more clearance than there actually is.

Whats the big deal? Return the 5mm spacers. Unbolt your caliper and tie it up with a hanger, bolt up the Z1 caliper/rotor combo and get some 3/4 in washers. Figure out how many washers it takes to make the wheels clear well, then measure the stack of washers and order the right spacer and studs. It's a custom car that needs a custom solution. You could always use the 5mm on the rear wheels to pop them out a bit offering a nicer look and wider stance out back.
