very true, the truth tends to be in the middle in most cases, but id say favoring one side above the other based on prior opinion of any given situation blinds you from objectively concluding any sort of factual fair judgment. what always gets me on these tt.net z1 and other bash sessions is that im sure hardly any of these people who make really destructive comments have never had any experience in a shop whatsoever. speaking from personal experience i would have to say that spending time in that sort of environment really changes the way you look at situations like this. naturally people run their businesses differently than what may be ideal, or lead to the best reputation, but peoples lack of empathy on account of both parties for what really must have happened is the most destructive of all. coming on saying because that so and so didnt treat you like a 6year old little girl on her birthday over the phone or chat is pretty weak. chances are he had a job mid progress, paperwork, and phone calls to return while trying to help you out. some realities working in a shop they never heard that rod knock, or metal on metal brake pads before it came in they are always going to think their car is the only one you work on that day, their car only needs half of what you say it does, it should have been done in half the time and i should only have to pay 1/3 of the bill.
