That being said, if it is significantly lighter than the OEM stuff, it probably won't work as well. It will be a complete waste of time to remove the OEM deadening just to replace it. You may see a couple pounds of weight difference (either gained or lost), and I doubt you'd notice a difference in cabin noise. If you want to reduce road noise, I'd look into adding a layer of closed cell foam (like the Overkill that Second Skin makes) under the carpet and/or behind the panels. Weight addition should be minimal.
