then the car isn't totaled. People who own cars are actually allowed to work on them, believe it or not. They can't claim the car is totaled because of a "work in progress," which is all he has to claim it was. Who cares what they think, as long as it's not documented. They can't raise your rates if they have no documentation of an accident or anything costing them money. They can choose to drop you, but there are plenty of decent insurance providers out there. An insurance company is there to protect you, not to harass and swindle you. I've used numerous insurance agencies over the years, and most of them were more than willing to take care of me in any situation, and my rates were never raised for any reason.
