They may give you a hard time for insuring a vehicle that they would've deemed unsafe for the road anyway. They probably believe that damage like that is only obtained in an accident. If you drive a vehicle that's been in an accident without reporting the accident, that is violating your contract and the insurance company may cancel or increase your premiums on that basis. Even if it was a minor fender bender that you didn't file a claim for, you still must report it to the insurance company.
