You can do the whole shooting match for less than what you'll end up spending and the trouble you'll go to by trying to keep the stock system working. I understand wanting to keep the stock appearance, but it's not worth it if you continue to have trouble with it. You could easily spend just as much on the initial repair as you would on getting new stuff, just to have it crap out again in short order. My Alpine head unit and four speakers, with install, and a DIN pocket, was less than $500, and you could cut that down even more depending on what gear you want or by doing it yourself. The Bose system was decent for its time, but isn't up to the standard of even the most basic aftermarket units today, and costs as much or more.
