| Basically, it's a feature of my remote start/alarm system. I've never been in a vehicle with an engine start button, but I'm assuming you still have to put in a key to unlock the steering wheel? (correct me if I'm wrong). So the way my remote start works is: 1) Activate the remote start with the key fob 2) Eventually get in your vehicle 3) Put key in and turn (not to ignite it) to unlock steering wheel 4) Press brake to put in gear (which deactivates the remote start and is now running normally) 5) Pressing brake without key is a security feature that shuts the vehicle down (can't steal easily while remote started) The optional engine start button is just a momentary switch that is installed in the dash for: 1) Can press button and keep vehicle running as I remove key and arm alarm (quick errands or a makeshift turbo-timer if you set the run period to end in a minute or two) 2) Button can start & shutdown vehicle with just a press (basically a remote start button within the vehicle) Isn't this what an engine start button is for?
