Message i went to best buy, circuit city, cartronics and radio shack today and asked what they thought about my situation. the guy at best buy said there is no way to raise the impedance of a speaker using resistors. the guys at circuit city said they didnt know of any way to do that. both best buy and circuit city agreed somewhat that a low impedance speaker would fry the headunit over time.

heres where i got thrown off track. Cartronics said that raising impedance was possible with a resistor in line. BUT he said that there isnt any way that the speakers at one ohm should fry the head unit. he said it probably just went bad. he claimed he has put aftermarket headunits in GM's with the same setup as mine and never had that happen. he said he wouldnt worry about raising the impedance with just 4 speakers. he said on a larger set up it may make a difference. but putting resistors in line would just kill my speaker performance. he advised against it.

i do plan on installing aftermarket speakers that are at school when i get back there but i just want be able to listen to music until i do.

Can someone explain whos right and whos wrong here.
