Message 1) don't try putting an LS in there
2) $4500 for a jdm motor + install is a lot, charging too much
3) even in good running condition, your car MIGHT be worth $4500
4) doing a TT swap is not a bad idea at all, it's a great idea if you know what you are doing, or if the place doing the swap knows what they are doing

i would consider:
1) do you really want to keep the car? you can sell it in as-is condition...and if the body is in good shape, someone will pick it up as a possible TT swap project...if you are not happy with the 20mpg, then sell it
2) find your own jdm engine and have some other place install it (or someone else)
3) consider a TT swap if you have the money and want to go that route
4) you are in Austin...you have SOOOO many resources in Austin...there are some good shops there...and LOTS of knowledgable Z'ers...email Kuah at SPL...search the tt.net directory for Austin members who might be able to help you...check out czot.org (Capital Z of Texas)...i'm sure there is someone in the club who can point you to a better solution
