| I guess if you attach a transmission and starter you can test the compression off the car, but you will annoyed if it has a bad bearing. If it were me and i was feeling like gambling I would just check compression (off the car) pull the oil pan, look for bearing bits. if that looked ok and I had no reason to suspect further trouble id throw it in if you are looking for an economical stock engine. Check oil pan for dents. should really do the 60k, but you don't HAVE to. as soon as you start tearing it apart you are incurring a huge expensive in just gaskets and seals, and in skills necesary to put it back together.
