Start by locating a broken J-Spec tail light:
And a US-Spec clean tail light:
Remove the harness/bulbs
Pop in your broken JDM tail in the oven, bake at 300F for about 10 minutes to deactivate the glue, it's better if you put it on a tray so it wont get hit directly with the heat. Pry open the unit, don't forget to remove the small screw that holds the front cover to the back.
Remove the chromed frame and red & white reflectors:
Remove the clear stripped plastic sheet, just pull it, it's attached with double sided tape:
This thing looks like it's painted and not chromed! or maybe it's powder coated .. I'm not sure if you can powder coat plastic !?
Time to bake the US-Spec tail light:
Replace the orange reflector with the white one:
Use some glue over the double sided tape on the clear plastic sheet:
Glue it in place on the front cover:
Old parts Vs new parts:
Time to bake everything again to reactivate the glue before closing the unit:
Ready for the chromed frame:
Put some glue all around the edge of the cover and press it in place:
All done:
Can you tell the difference between the actual J-Spec (on left) and the J-Speced one (on right)
