Message I had an NA for 7 years, and went from stock to all the bolt ons. Adding a full exhaust made a noticeable difference, but not nearly as noticeable as it was on my TT. In a perfect world, the h/x-pipe will help, but probably not better then a couple extra horsepower...(considering the complete exhaust is only good for 10-15 rwhp, and most of the gain is from larger piping and straight-through muffler designs.) The considerable noise that comes from an NA with full exhaust (especially with test pipes...don't do them on an NA) was tiresome to me when cruising, and was not worth it even for the relatively decent power increase. I would recommend going with the ud pulley, single pop intake, and a master cylinder brace. I think these parts give the best all around driveability and performance improvements for your dollar. If you are wanting more power from your NA without ruining the cars civility, do the above mods and run nitrous. It'll give you the hp and torque to run with the big boys, and when you aren't spraying, you will still have a nice quiet, and smooth driving Z. No raucous exhaust note, and plenty of go. If my TT was as loud as my NA was with my greddy exhaust, I would go back to stock exhaust even though I would lose considerable hp. Besides all the above, does the exhaust sound good? That is pretty important to me. If it sounds good and isn't too loud, I would just leave it be. More open mufflers (which you likely have) will give a decent power gain and a nice exhaust note. At least this usually applies since most stock mufflers are very restrictive. This is probably a longer response than you wanted, but I have been through a lot of exhaust configurations on the NA, and can say that none of them were really worth the extra noise or cost, and in the case of headers, the extra-busted knuckles. Spray it, or do mods that won't make the car unrefined. Hell, the NA is pretty sweet bone stock. Good luck with whatever your choice.
