overall, tuning would help both cases greatly, but as i had mentioned before, at the moment, the correlation between the similar issues was the long blocks so i was curious as to if anyone else had issues - build wise, both had all new parts installed (fpr, dampner, filter, injectors, plugs, 120k kits, etc.). nothing really seems out of wack for the builds except the pinging under a low boost condition (15psi or less). motors: compression on both motors: sjz's between 165 and 170 with an odd 178 on number 4 if memory serves correct and kris's motor was between 168 and 175... not all that "out" of spec for overall fresh motors, barely even high, but nothing that screamed bad build. afr's on both cars are a bit rich for my taste 10.8-11.0 for sjz's and 10.4-10.8 for kris's (i have found 11.3-11.5 for 15 psi works well and gets rid of some miss fire issues). as for plugs, i believe sjz is on #6 platinum plugs and kris is on #7 iridium plugs. it may all just come down to actually having to tune both cars to resolve the issues, but again, i was curious if it may have been a motor thing do to them having the same long blocks or just a luck of the draw with luck coincidences:: all in all, they also have me in common... damn! thanks again kyle for everything you've done and do for the community, take care.

Best run: 1.60 60', 11.319 @ 120.65 mph - 118 octane fuel (on 100 octane tune), 22 degrees of timing, 21-22 psi boost, 11 psi tire pressure (street slicks). "..know your car better... RACE IT!.. AS OFTEN AS POSSIBLE.." "Drag racing is for fast cars... Autocross is for fast drivers... Drifting is for cheap tires..." I made up the last one.. |
