Message First off I am sorry you are having some issues with your car.

With that said I checked and I do not have any emails from you or from Kris Wood asking for help about any problems so it is hard to diagnose any problems I am not aware of.

Now lets start looking at the issue. You say you are pinging at 13 degree's of timing.

The first thing to look at is how you are reading the timing marks. I noticed both you and Kris have underdrive pulleys so you both need to look at this:

http://www.twinturbo.net/nissan/300zx/FAQ/FAQpages/timing.html

If you are 100% sure you are reading the timing right the next step would be to check the fuel pressure. What fuel pressure is the car running while going into boost? Is it going up with the boost properly? If not you need to check the fuel pump, fuel regulator, fuel damper, and fuel filter.

If all that checks out you need to check your plugs. What heat range are you using? What is the plug gap? What do they look like when you pull them? For a built motor and especially with 91 octane I would recommend a minimum of the 7 heat range iridium plugs.

If that is all good the next step would be to have it checked with a wideband sensor preferably in the downpipe or very start of the test pipe/cats. You should be in the range of 11.0:1 while under boost.

If that checks out you can also have the compression checked. If the numbers are high(over 180 psi) then the motor was machined wrong and the compression is higher then stock and is causing your pinging. Or if the numbers on one side of the motor are way off from the other side you may have a cam timing problem which could cause some problems.

After all of that if everything checks out the next step would be to have it tuned by a professional.

During any of the above checks if you have any questions what so ever please feel free to contact me. I have no problems helping customers out.
