Message It's been a little while since I've done any major work on the Z since my daughter was born. The Z has been hanging out in the garage with a cover on her. I picked up a set of the Ztuner leather covers and proceeded to recover my seats. I will say from the very start I am very pleased with the fit a nd finish of the covers. I have no complaints and the seats are as good as new in my opinion. There's a bunch of pics that follow for those that are intersted and I'd be more than happy to field any questions.

For starters I'll recommend that you buy a quality set of hog ring pliers and at least 300 rings for the project. I've read the one VTF post where the guy used zip ties. After completing the project I can't imagine what a PITA it was and the additional time required to poke ~250 holes in the leather for the ties. I bought my set through Eastwood. I bought the 3 piece set which included 300 rings, 2 sets of pliers and one puller. The cost to my door was $113.

Here are the tools I used. If you want to get the minimum then you will just need the straight pliers and the hog rings. That will run you about $40-45. The angled pliers did come in hany a few times and saved me a few minutes and some cussing. A good sharp set of sidecutters is mandatory to remove the old rings. A good razor knife for making holes around some of the mounting points in the seats. Not pictured are the heat gun and t-bar I used to shrink the leather and take out a few wrinkles. A good hair dryer that puts out a lot of heat will work and a round smooth tool for smoothing out the wrinkles will also work. The covers fit very well and I didn't have to smooth very much at all.

Also, once you've disassembled the bottoms take the time to prep and paint the mounting points.

The tops are identicle left and right. The bottoms are different and this is what you look for on the covers. It's pretty staright forward once you get the old covers off. One side slips in and the other is hog ringed.

And the new cover

the headrest, you'll need a staple gun here with at least 1/2" long staples.

The finished product. I don't have any in car pics as the car is under cover and good photo angles in the garage are difficult. My daughter is the only one who's sat in them to date. I'll get my turn when I roll her out next month.
