Message I've gone to 4 shops in the East Texas area and called one in Dallas and all 4 have told me the same thing about my wheel problem.... It can't be fixed.

Several years ago, I posted about this, before I parted my old silver TT out, and Eric (a member of this forum) bought them because I had been told that a shop would be able to fix them. I bought his Z from him in 2007, and it so happened to have my old wheels. (weird, I know).

3 of the wheels have curb rash that is fixable, and one has a WOBBLE to it (like it has "brushed" a curb or something... I don't know how it happened, as I bought these used from Japan). All 4 of the shops said they cannot fix the wobble because it is too extreme. The wheels, between myself and Eric have about 25k miles on them (and god knows how many before when in Japan) and they will balance fine to about 65mph and then they will vibrate pretty badly. The reasoning behind the shops not being able to fix the wheel is because the way it is bent, they risk breaking the entire wheel (at the point where it would need to be "bent" back, so to speak).

I think I'm at the point where I need to just bid farewell to these wheels and let the 240sx guys use the rears (17x10) for drifting or something like that.

I hate to get rid of them because they are actually pretty rare and made before the car was: Manufactured in 2/1989 and they were only available in Japan (the 3pc was available in the US). I've only seen 3 other sets on any Z32 300zx's, 1 on a supra, and 1 on a NSX.

Any ideas? I'm at a loss here.

I 'd bet that my chances of finding another set would be next to impossible. Maybe it's SSR Professor/Work Meister time? :)

I drove the car last month at MSR Houston in a private session with about 10 other drivers, and the vibration from the bent wheel was really starting to get old... I think it may be time for replacements. I think they look "unique" but are starting to look "dated"....I like them for the rarity thing, although they are pretty heavy (about 20 lb fr, 23 lb rear).

For those that don't know, here's the info on the wheels and pictures:

Mackin Industries Gewalt Type II "Arrow Super Weapons" (written on the centercaps) 17x10/17x9
2 piece wheels
Now owned by Volk/Rays
Manufactured 2/1989

The one that is bent is the right front (well, one of the 17x9 ones)
