It's been about a year of work, but my wife and I just finished our biggest Z project yet- a new garage for them. I was fortunate enough to be given enough lead time on my current job to facilitate new construction for once. The results are here:
Building a house from the ground up may sound like a great idea, but in reality, it can be a pain in the butt if you are anal like I am. The good news is that you can pick and choose where things like cable jacks, phone jacks, and outlets go. You can put a sink and a drain in the garage. The bad thing is that, once complete, you will kick yourself for things you messed up. For instance, I didn't leave enough room for a lift. I would have rather had a solid beam instead of all the posts in the garage, but YOU try and convince the better half that a cleaner looking/more functional garage is better than granite countertops! The good news is that this is not my "final" house. I'm about to leave on an half-year business trip that will give me some disposable income. That will help turn this space into a place worthy of Nixit critique (thanks for the Garage Journal gouge!) when I get back in country. It has a lot of potential. For now, here they rest:
