you have to bring each cylinder to TDC or as near as possible, starting with cylinder #1. Then work your way through the firing order. Left to right front to back. The leak down tester should have a guage and regulator, you hook up a pressureized air source, set the regulator so the guage reads 0, then hook it up to the small hose that you have threaded into the spark plug hole. Read and record the % of leakage. If the leakage is really high, you probebly dont quite have the cylinder exactly at TDC and air is escaping out the valves. Do each cylinder a few times just to make sure you get a consistant reading.... dont just take the first one you get.After you have done all cylinders, take the lowest reading number and the highest reading and figure out the % of differance. Anything over 15% is too high.
