I love Top Gear, but not for a minute do I think its an objective car show. They hate on US cars ('stangs, 'vettes) for their performance deficiencies, and paradoxically dismiss the same faults in similar performing Euro cars (Alfa 8C, any TVR product) as having 'soul' or some such nonsense.
Pure entertainment, but not a fair comparison of vehicles. They have always been cagey (read *fearful*) of what the Japanese produce, and downplay their accomplishments (recent Evo X and STi comparison) in favour of the latest Ferrari.
The lastest TG episode (GTR race vs Bullet train) was a big disappointment, as they obviously staged many parts of the 'race' as they always do, and took cheap shots at the GTR (always calling it 'Datsun', for example), belittled the Japanese, and really didn't give much of a background on the Skyline development; just why this car is such a big deal.
As usual, the presenters were entertaining, but if you want some hard data and performance, this wasn't on the menu.
Still, worth what I paid to watch.
