I have installed many aftermarket heater cores, in various applications with normally good luck. The one thing I do now is pressure test each core before installation at 20 lbs. I cycle the pressure a few times, while the core is immersed in a container of water. I then really look for even the smallest stream of bubbles, especially around the tank, and tube solder areas.
