you asked about a ported box, which gets into complex acoustics. a properly ported sub box is more than just a sealed box with a hole cut in it. i have no doubt that you could make a great sealed box, as a starter. and then, once you have a baseline for what the sub should sound like in your car with your setup, then you could try a researching ported boxes. as far as your abilities, your abilities are not what we are exactly questioning. we are questioning your knowledge, which is really whats important here. you are leaping into the deep end, kind of like when a green "n" posts: "i just got this n/a z, and am interested making it a tt. i got the turbos, and was wondering...." sure if you were just installing some speakers or just an amp, we could help you out no problem. but, you are overhauling a complete system.
