| I want to use braided SS hose throughout the engine compartment so when I got to the PCV valves I modified them to accept #8 AN fittings. Sorry I didn't take a pic of the PCV before I cut the hose nipple off. Here's the basic linup from left to right: Stock PCV with hose nipple cut off, stock spring, stock plunger, #8 thread, 37° flare end.
spring and plunger as they sit in the stock PCV valve. The #8 thread was a steel JIC hydraulic fitting that I turned the hex down and cut the pipe thread and flare off of, also had to drill to the same ID that the stock PCV was.
#8 thread welded to stock PCV bottom
Top is fully assembled (the flared end is stepped on bottom and presses in 0.050"), another exploded view on bottom
Was easy to weld... used C-clamp to hold together and TIG welded with no filler
Left: assembled top view Right: Inside of PCV showing spring seat and step that stops the plunger from fully collapsing the spring and blocking air flow.
Spring and plunger installed waited for the flare to be pressed in
Next step is to re-route, not the traditional drill-and-tap-into-the-intake-valvecover way though, I'll cover that in another post as soon as I get pics of everything mocked up on the engine.
