Message has to do with how the ECU controls fuel.

In the Z you would notice the fuel slightly dip rich going from full load into an upshift, and then the mixture will shoot up very lean until you are back on the gas pedal.

Sometimes you'll get a little backfire with BOVs but the mixture in your Z wont behave like your friend's FD.
