Annotating that the ticket was paid has nothing to do with clearing the check. The point is...there are two distinctly different operations here. One is the clerk noting to the court that the ticket has been paid so no further action, such as failure to appear or notifying DMV to suspend your license takes place; the other is in the accounting office where they annotate receipt of the funds and POSSIBLY issue a refund of the overpayment. I know, I know, there will be a hundred people saying "it worked for me", but in actuality "That's Bull$hit!".
