| Your links support MY statement, not yours. At least the second one does. The first link is blocked for me. For the denominator, what people want to say is the "greatest common denominator". This is what you use to remove the maximum complexity from a problem involving fractions. The least common denominator is always 1.0, and dividing by that gives you no improvement. It's just dumb to say that. "Least common denominator" as a phrase was invented in a song by Mojo Nixon decades ago. His songs were very funny and popular at the time, but ol' Mojo was not a very bright guy. He also invented the phrase "Madonna wanna-be". The fact that many hordes of people misuse the phrase is beside the point. Many hordes of people are dumb. As another instance, they use the phrase "That doesn't jive," when they mean "That doesn't jibe." Dumb.
