get sued a couple of times while whatever drug they introduce gets put out. I mean, don't get me wrong, they do make a lot of money. However, when a product like Vioxx comes out which is supposed to be "The wonder drug," not enough long term testing is put in place and long term results aren't studied. The problem with this drug (and all cox 2 inhibitors, watch your health Celebrex users) is that it works great for pain/inflamation, but can cause heart problems in the long run. So now, the drug company has pulled the drug off the market (which is wasn't sold for very long) and are still dealing with lawsuits from people who have taken the drug for long term use. This is just one example, but the companies have to be prepared just in case of something down the line gets proven how its "unsafe." Right now Viagra can cause instantaneous blindness in certain individuals, there wasn't a warning about it on the label because such a few % of the population was at risk, no one in the trials were ever stricken of the side effect. Last I heard there were about 30 or so cases across the country. Thats a few amount of people compared to how many people take the drug. But anyway, just wanted to throw that in there. Not very frequent that an oil company will get sued for their products.
