on street .. when your park .. always know who is around you.
I'm not really that careful here in San Diego, crime down here is very low. But when I was in LA, I was about to be a victim of a gang initiation .. they would park on the side of a side street with their lights off, They wait for someone to flash them with the high beam as they passed them, as a safety warning since they are double parked in the dark with no lights.
Once you do that, they will take off, follow you and shoot at you. It happend to me, but I rushed into my underground parking as they started following me. I was lucky that the garage door opened fast and they stopped following me.
My first instint was to speed up as they took off behind me, because I was aware of that happening.
Even though I didn't make too much of it at the time, but one week later there was a warning in the lobby of my building about the same event that happened to me, that's when I realized that was serious and that I was very lucky.
The building was on the corner of Sunset and La Brea, one block east of La Brea.
