Base timing is simply a calibration between what the ECU is triggering based on the CAS position, and what the *actual* timing the engine is running. What this means is when the ECU is triggering at 15 degrees, the spark plug is firing when the crank is 15 degrees before TDC. With the ZEMulator, I can program the timing to be anything I want it to be based on RPM and load. Dependent on the fuel used, you can run more or less timing, or more or less fuel to make more power.
