Message	There was a rock slide on the Tail of The Dragon in mid-March, which resulted in US129 being temporarily closed in its entirety. News of the closure. Tennessee D.O.T. just awarded a contract to have the slide cleaned up and the slide area secured, but the finish date is July 31st. North Carolina D.O.T. (which evidently recognizes the economic impact of the closure more acutely) has offered to help maintain and patrol the road into Tennessee, in order for the barricades to come down sooner -- or at least to allow ~most~ of the road to be opened. News of the offer by NC. But Tennessee has refused that offer. What we can do about it: Sign the petition to help persuade both sides that it is in their interest to open the road ASAP.
