We recently released the Z1 upgraded side mount intercoolers. Through the process of taking a car to the dyno and switching out several different brands of performance intercoolers we concluded that performance intercoolers we tested produce around 25 hp gain at the 500 hp level which becomes more significant as power output increases. So if you have upgraded turbos, performance intercoolers are a good idea.
So which performance intercoolers to choose? We sell all of them at the best prices you’ll find. Stillen SMIC's or the Apollo FMIC for $950, for example. The smaller core sizes of the HKS and Greddy SMIC's, as compared to the Z1 or Stillen SMIC's, make them a less attractive choice in our opinion considering similar pricing. The Stillen set has good capacity and decent price but is shaped so that the plugs have to be modified and rewired on the turnsignals to make them fit. Special ducts are also neccessary to provide airflow at a cost of almost $200. Z1 SMIC’s have significantly more core size than HKS or Greddy and mount without the issues of the Stillen using stock ducts.
Through continuing negotiations with our manufacturer we are now able offer our side mount intercoolers for $865/pair.
