This came out of my 1994TT @ 52,000 miles. I replaced it to install the the 1998 upgraded model. It does not grind when shifting, pop out of gear, have bearing noises or oil leaks. I thought there might be something wrong with it because it would not accept 1st until going very slowly. To my surprise the new one behaves the same way, plus it has a noisy input bearing. As soon as it was removed I used the shipping caps of the new on on the output and speedo drive hole. The input shaft was covered with the replacement's greased cinch type plastic bag. Unit has been in dry storage several years. $1100
