Message BDE Performance Top Feed Fuel Rail Parts Package


There comes a point in the quest for more horsepower where stock side-feed type injectors simply become out-classed. BDE fuel rails work with the stock upper plenum and allow the VG30DE to take advantage of the higher flow capacities and superior coil technology of Peak and Hold (low impedance) top-feed injectors with Bosch style o-ring ends. BDE fuel rails are anodized black and feature #6 o-ring AN inlets/outlets for guaranteed leak-free performance while the mounting hardware is designed to prevent metal to metal contact and insulate the fuel rails and injectors from thermally conducted engine heat.


This is a parts only package, machining is required to both the upper and lower plenum for installation. The parts including in this package are:


• BDE top-feed fuel rails and mounting hardware with (6) bungs for mounting the injectors.

• RC Engineering Injectors (Qty 6) recommended for trouble free fit and performance with BDE fuel rails. And available in 1000cc / 1200cc / 1600cc

• Injector wire harness clips (Qty 6)

• Crossover/balance tube - to clear the fuel rails, the idle air inlets on the balance tube need to be moved. BDE modified balance tubes eliminate the charcoal canister nipple and feature -8 AN flares to allow AN hose ends to be connected to the idle air inlets. Cores may be NA or TT versions. This part does carry an additional $50 core charge.

• Hose end adapter fittings (Qty 4 included) - zinc plated steel, includes o-ring. Available in -6AN or -8AN hose end size.


What's So Special About Top-Feed Injectors?

Top-feed injectors are available in 1000, 1200 and 1600 cc/min flow ratings which opens up the potential to make well over 1000 RWHP with one injector per cylinder in a six-cylinder engine.


Peak and Hold coils, only available in top-feed injectors, are capable of drawing more amperage to create a stronger magnetic field, this makes the actuator respond faster than stock-type Saturated coils by as much as 1.5 Ms. Once opened, the injector needs much less amperage to remain open – using an injector driver such as AEM’s 30-2710 will allow full opening current and then reduce the power after opening. It is not advised to use resistors with Peak and Hold injectors; resistors will reduce the voltage (and therefore amperage) negating the Peak and Hold benefit almost entirely.


The disc-type actuator weighs only 0.4 grams allowing it to open and close quicker than heavier pintle or ball type actuators; this allows cycle periods as low as 1.0 Ms and safe duty cycles approaching 92%.


Combined, these attributes add up to the ability to use high flow-rate injectors with brutal HP potential while maintaining decent low speed drivability.


This package is now in use on the Z1 Motorsports silver wide body Z32.
