1992 300ZX Twin Turbo. 5 Speed. Pearl White. 77K original miles. Super super clean everywhere inside and out. Never smoked in. This is a repost as the previous buyer ended up backing out due to financial problems. Given the sob story, I felt sorry for him and gave him back his deposit. Have all 3 original keys(Titanium, Black, and Red Valet). Original owners manual, warranty manual, window sticker. T-Top covers. T-Top shades.
Garaged, babied, and maticulously cared for to a fault. I bought this Z with 37K miles on it in 2001 for $25000.
The leather interior was replaced only a few months ago. The reason is that there were creases in the seats. Although the rest of the interior was perfect, the creases in the leather detracted from the interior looking brand new. Cosmetically, I'd grade the exterior as a 9 out of 10 and the interior as a 9.5 out of 10.
Mechanically the car needs nothing. Everything that can deteriorate with age has been replaced even if it didn't need it.
All water hoses, boost hoses, vacuum lines, fuel lines, idle system hoses, EFI engine harness, accessory belts, timing belt, water pump, idlers, and spark plugs have all been recently replaced. None of the original rubber in the engine bay remains. It's all new. Even the water lines underneath the plenum have been replaced. All done in 2005. All parts are OEM Nissan bought from a Nissan dealership. Fuel system was upgraded to 1995+ spec with all Nissan OEM parts purchased from a Nissan dealership. The newer style injectors are designed to handle ethanol. If you buy a Z prior to 1995 and it has not had the conversion, the fuel injectors will fail with ethanol blended gasoline.
All fluids were changed at 37K miles and again at 62K miles(2005). Brake fluid including ABS module flushed with Mobil 1 synthetic brake fluid(2006). Transmission and rear diff both changed out with Redline(at 37K and again at 62K). Power steering fluid changed with Redline. Engine oil always Mobil 1 or Castrol Syntec. Engine coolant. (All done at 37K and again at 62K). Clutch was replaced at 59626 miles. All miles since then have been 99% freeway(260 mile round trip commute), so the clutch is still nearly new. Flywheel was replaced at the same time with a lightened RPS segmented flywheel. Pricey, but they can't warp and they can be rebuilt. Brake pads were replaced when the system was flushed, so the pads are nearly new especially given the mostly freeway commute.
Engine compression is 150 to 155 psi on all cylinders. This is optimal for TTs. Nearly new Bridgestone Potenenza S03 on all 4 wheels.
This Z is mildly modified and produces 411 RWHP (495 FWHP) on 91 octane at 16 PSI on Sport 500 turbos. Keep in mind a C5 based Z06 only makes 340 RWHP stock. States that have 93 or 94 octane will be able to run more boost. Currently, the tune, which was done on a dyno, is meant to run safely on 91 at 16 psi on hot days if needed.
Modifications: Sport500 turbos.
NISMO 615cc injectors.
Greg Dupree Super Split Downpipes.
Specialty-Z high flow cats with O2 bungs. Borla SS exhuast.
JWT Single POP.
JWT ECU.
Stillen intercoolers. UD Pulley.
RPS segmented flywheel.
Leader 4.10 gears(these gears were made specifically for the TT and are the only way to get shorter gearing while retaining HICAS 4 wheel steering. This gears offset the larger wheel diameter.
RPS Street Sport clutch. Profec-B with remote.
Blitz dual turbo timer.
Suspension and wheels: BBS RSII 18x10 and 18x8 wheels.
Tires: Potenza S03 275 35R18 and 245 40R18
Stillen heavy duty sway bars.
Stillen tension rods.
Stillen short throw shifter. Brass shifter bushings.
This Z drives like a stock Z until you get on the power. It's a daily driver and unless your getting on the throttle, feels just like a stock Z.
Sound System: MB Quart RKC 116 6.5" front and back.
1990 6.5" rear speaker housing retrofit.
Phoenix Gold TI 500.4 Titanium. 500 Watts RMS Class A.
Bazooka 300 watt subwoofer.
This system sounds great even with the subwoofer removed for cargo. It's so much better than stock there is no comparison. 5000K HID plug and play conversion. Can restore 9006's if desired. Comes with two sets of cats. The hi-flow CARB approved cats and OE cats. I use the OE cats to smog because the hi-flow cats just aren't very good at low speeds. The OE cats have been used only for smogging so they have almost no mileage. If winner is a California buyer, I will smog vehicle with OE cats. Buyer has the choice of me leaving on the OE cats or swapping hi-flow cats back on. For out of state buyers, I can put on the OE cats if desired although the hi-flow cats will probably work just fine in any state other than California for smogging.
With the work and parts to bring this example Z up to it's current level of excellence, I now have over $37K dollars (including the purchase) since 2001. In retrospect, it seems utterly rediculous and a complete waste of money because there's no way I can recover most of what I spent. My stupidity can be someone else's gain :( I hate to sell it. This car is my baby. But shortly after buying it back in 2001, I moved 130 miles from work and driving it only once a week the 260 mile round trip, I've from 37K miles to 77K miles. I've managed, with careful driving to raise my average fuel economy from 23 all the way up to 28 with hypermiling techniques. But that basically means not driving faster than 60MPH and no hard acceleration. Z is located in Merced, CA and can be taken to my place of work in the Bay Area. Local buyers are free to come and inspect in person during the duration of the auction. Photos:
Dyno on 91 octane 16 psi.
Blemishes:
A paint chip about 2 mm in diameter and another much smaller one.
Very hard to see in the photo, but some very small scuffs.
Probably the only flaw anywhere in the interior. The vinyl has separated from it's backing in a few areas on the passenger door. I've replaced the door panel twice already and it keeps happening. It's never occured on the driver door. This issue with the passenger door panel has come up several times in the Z forums. What I should have done was taken the original panel to an upholstery shop and had it repaired, but back then I was in the mindset of buy brand new parts for anything that was wrong rather than repair. This is going to cost $200 maybe even $300 for an upholstery shop to fix correctly.
