Engine assembled by Precision Speed and Machine in Bakersfield, CA originally in November 2004. See this post for details:

http://www.twinturbo.net/net/viewmsg.aspx?forum=general&msg_id=1400397

The project was put on hold for almost a year (acquiring turbos, etc.), and when the motor was installed, it was discovered that I had 3 stuck lifters on the driver's side head. I had elected to re-use the old lifters (mistake #1).

The car was towed to Specialty-Z for diagnosis and repair. It was discovered that I had not properly indexed a cam gear and bent 2 exhaust valves. Greg & Seb removed the heads, ordered valves and new lifters, and reassembled the long block. This was done in April of 2006. See invoice below, mileage at that point was 86,652:

The car sat on the side of my house for a year and a half, accumulating only 557 miles. At that point, an improperly torqued oil spring retaining bolt loosened, causing total loss of oil pressure and destroying 2 rods, damaging all 6 piston wrist journals and skirt coatings, scored 1 cylinder wall, and trashed the crank.

See pic and post below for details:

I acquired a replacement block and a knife-edged, balanced crankshaft from local tt.net members and took the motor back to PSM.

Vic Posey (PSM) bent over backwards working with me on this build, even though the motor was technically out of warranty. They typically offer a 12 month/1200 mile warranty on rebuilds, and I had eclipsed that by 2 years. I cannot thank Vic enough for the patience and willingness to work with me through this process, it has been relatively painless and we are both satisfied with the results.

We ordered 6 brand new Wiseco 87.5mm (0.020" over) pistons, 2 new Eagle H-beam rods, full OEM bearing and gasket set, new OEM oil pump (unmodified), and commenced to rebuild the motor to spec.

The bottom end is fully balanced, the heads were disassembled and inspected and found to be undamaged. The engine is fully assembled, we are waiting on 2 oil galley plugs and then the motor will be ready to drop ship out of PSM to the buyer.

Just to give you an idea of the extent of the port work, these are a few pics from the original post that show the smoothing and port matching done with the plenum bolted to the heads:

I will have pictures of the assembled motor tomorrow. I would like to start soliciting offers for this motor now, so that when the galley plugs arrive, we can ship the motor straight out of PSM to the buyer (which will be cheaper and easier on me). They are palletizing and crating the motor and it will be shipped truck freight, insured. Shipping will run between $200 and $400 (approximately). I can provide solid numbers once the motor is palletized, weighed, and a zip code is provided.

Motor will be provided with timing gear backing plates, all four cam gears, lower intake plenum and gasket, and oil filter tree (if requested). Buyer will be given all remaining gaskets from the OEM kit to use on the vehicle to install the ancillary parts.

Serious inquiries only. If I do not find a buyer within 48 hours, I will put the motor on Ebay. Feel free to call me with any questions.

Thank you.
