What can I do to pep up my higher mileage Z?
These repairs can improve performance. Over the past year or so, I
had been feeling that my 90TT Z Stage III had slowly been getting a little
sluggish. It seemed to be running okay though, so I thought maybe it was
all in my head. It was one of those things that happened so subtley and
slowly that I didn't notice it. Recently I took it in for a couple of different
minor problems:
-
Dipping idle on deceleration and when in neutral at high speeds.
-
My mechanic discovered my EGR Valve and both PCV Valves where in a state
of COMPLETE failure.
-
Additionally, many of the 10 short little rubber hoses between the intake
manifold and the block had pin hole leaks in them.
-
The Fuel Dampener was in complete failure.
We replaced the EGR, both PCV's and the Fuel Dampener (similar to
the Fuel Pressure Regulator).
THE CAR IS LIKE A ROCKET NOW! I can't believe the difference. It feels
faster than it has EVER felt, even when I first took it to Stage III.
I highly reccomend that everyone with a similar number of miles as me
(95,000) check the EGR, PCV's and Fuel Pressure Regulator and Fuel Dampener.
The results from replacing these things are outstanding!
