Take off the part over the gauges. There are two screws above the cluster.
Take off the trim around the cluster. Remove the panel below the steering
wheel to get to all of the screws. Remove it anyway, because it'll happen
later.
Next, remove the cluster. Be careful when removing the connectors.
Take out the stereo. Pry off the trim piece above the head unit with
a small flat head screwdriver. There are two slots if you look closely.
Don't pry so much as stick the screw driver in the slot, push up, and then
pull out. There are two other trim pieces at each side of the top vent.
Remove those. Remove the four screws and pull the face plate off. Remove
the next four screws and pull out the stereo, and disconnect the wires.
Remove the top of the center console. There are two screws. Remove the
face plate to the stereo (also look for any bolts holding the dash down).
There is also a screw under the ash tray I believe. Remove all screws and
pull the piece up and forward. Disconnect the connectors to the light and
cigarette lighter. Remove the side pieces to the center console. Should
be able to do the drivers side one now. Might have to wait on the passenger
side one until the glove box is out.
Pull the panel below the glovebox. Open the glove box, and remove the
screw holding the arm to the glove box (it keeps it from opening too far.
Close it and take out the bolts below it. I think it will come out now.
Behind the glove box is the trickiest part. There is a metal frame behind
it covering up some of the bolts. Remove what there and pull it away from
the dash. I think there are a few bolts behind it, use a wrench to get
to them.
Along the top of the dash there are vents. Carefully remove them. I
would suggest using a small flathead screwdriver. Don't pry against the
dash if at all possible. Put the tool in and lift. Once one end comes up,
pull it out firmly with your hands. There are two of these pieces. The
drivers side one has one of the sensors for your automatic temperature
control if it's on the car. Once the trim piece is off, disconnect the
sensor.
Once both pieces are off, remove the three bolts from the top of the
dash. There are vents on the very side of the dash (between the dash and
the door panel) Yank the vents off (no screws). Underneath, find a few
bolts holding the dash in. Look again under the dash and in the holes where
the radio and cluster were. Check for any other bolt holding the dash.
There are four nuts holding the steering column up. Actually is looks
like two, but when you take them off, there are two more on the same stud.
Look under the dash for these, and remove them. Give the steering column
a tug if it didn't fall already. It should fall about six inches, giving
enough room to pull the dash over it. I would put a blanket over the steering
wheel so not to scratch it.
I think that's about it. The dash should pull out now. Pull it firmly,
because there are clips at the top which should be still holding it in.
Put it back together in reverse order. I hope this helps.
